Abduction is bad, not just bad but very bad! Some people don't come out alive, and those that do are never the same.
A Delsu Lecturer was abducted by unknown men and the ASUU thinks that the best way to tackle this problem and show their support is to go on a nation wide university strike.
What do you think??
Mrs Ojaruega, who is a lecturer in the Department of English and Literary Studies, DELSU, Abraka, was ambushed and violently kidnapped since Monday 19th May, 2014 at gun point by unknown gunmen near Eku in Ethiope East Local Government Area on her way to work at about 8.30am. Up to the time of filing in this report, Mrs Ojaruega, a humble, hardworking, dedicated house wife and mother has been kept incommunicado.
Sadly, No contact has been established and her location remains unknown.
In a press conference held on Thursday 22nd May, 2014 at the Senior Staff Club, DELSU, Abraka on the frequent kidnapping of members, the union rejected and condemned the incessant harassment and kidnapping of members.
According to ASUU-DELSU “there is a standing action principle of ASUU National regarding the kidnap of her members. Further delay in the release of Mrs Ojaruega would compel the Branch to activate this principle which will not be in the interest of the society”.
ASUU-DELSU therefore called on the Delta State Government and the Security Agents to provide a conducive atmosphere devoid of insecurity in Abraka and environ to enable DELSU workers and students function excellently and fearlessly.
Executives and members of ASUU-DELSU present at the press conference included Professor Abel Diakparomre, Chairman; Dr Emma Ufuophu-Biri, Secretary; Dr Tarhuno, Treasurer; Prof (Mrs) Edith Odeka, HOD, History and International Studies, Dr Marcauley Mowarin, HOD, English and Literary Studies;.Dr Adaikpo, HOD, Geology, Mr Lucky Ejobee and Mr Moses Darah of Languages and Linguistics Department among others.
