The Aberdeen West Africa Merit Scholarship in the UK for Nigerians (2014-2015) is on


University of Aberdeen is inviting applications from qualified Nigerian students who reside in Nigeria to apply for the 2014 West Africa Merit Scholarship.



Applicants must be commencing a full time postgraduate Masters programme in the College of Life Sciences and Medicine or the College of Arts and Social Sciences at the University of Aberdeen in September 2014.


Worth of Award: 
5 scholarships valued at approx £2000 each will be awarded.


Eligibility
* Candidates are required to hold the equivalent of a 1 class British Honours degree or better from a recognised Nigerian/Ghanaian university.
* To be considered for the scholarship you will need to have applied to the University of Aberdeen and been offered a place starting in September 2014.
* You must also be a privately funded student, and not in receipt of any financial assistance from the Nigerian/Ghanaian Government.
* The scholarship can only be held by a student of the University commencing study in September 2014

Note – it cannot be transferred to other institutions.

* Priority will be given to students who do not
already have additional scholarship funding (student loans excluded) and to those who have firmly accepted either a conditional or unconditional offer for a place at the University at the time the selection committee meets.


How to Apply
Completing the form
Section 1 – Personal details
- Please provide details as requested in the form.
- Please ensure current contact details are provided.

Section 2 – Proposed study information
- Please provide details of the postgraduate course you have applied for and if you have received an offer from the University.

Section 3 – Personal statement
- Please complete no more than 500 words on the following:
* why you wish to study in Scotland at the University of Aberdeen
* why you wish to obtain the qualification you have applied for
* How you think you will benefit in terms of career and personal development from obtaining this qualification.


A completed application form, transcript and one academic reference should be emailed or posted to:
